Kannur International Airport- Kerala’s
fourth International airport inaugurated on Sunday, 9th Dec 2018 by
Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. They
jointly flagged off the first Air India Express flight with 186 passengers on
board flying to Abu Dhabi. The airport is located at Mattanur town near Kerala.
The Kannur International Airport is
located 30 km from Kannur city.
With this Kannur
International Airport inauguration Kerala
State has four international airports along with Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode
and Kochi. With this Kerala is the only
state in India to have four international airports.

The Kannur
International Airport is spread across 2330 acres with a runway length of 3050
meters.

Owners-
The Kannur
International Airport being built with public-private partnership (PPP) mode
with State and Central undertakings. Whereas State owns 32.86 % and 22.54% share
is by Central Public Sector Undertakings. Additional 35.21% is owned by other qualified
institutional buyers, individuals, companies and remaining 9.39% is owned by
Airports Authority of India.
Terminal building-
Kannur
International Airport’s terminal building is built with the modern facilities spread
across 95,000 square meters. Airport has
24 check-in counters, there is a scope to increase to 48 counters in the future
requirements.
