New Motor Vehicles Policy- Revised Penalty for Traffic Offences

After a long wait, The Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2019 has been passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday,23rd July 2019. Now it will be presented in the Rajya Sabha. Once the bill is passed from the Rajya Sabha, the President will approve it. This bill will act as an amended law instead of the existing Motor Vehicle Act 1988 when the President approve it. The bill has been taken into account in the amended Act that the penalty for violation is so high that people should be afraid of the bill, and follow the rules and regulations. New Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill will impose a minimum penalty of 500 Rupees.  Below is the complete compilation of a list of new and old penalties for violation of traffic rules in India.

In the amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act, it has been specifically emphasized that the traffic rules did not make a mark, as it was now. Due to the very small amount of the penalty, motorists were not afraid of penalties. This is the reason that in the amended Act, provision of double fines have been made against the government officials and employees in violation of traffic rules as against the common people.

Not only this, but the amended Act has also been entrusted with the responsibility of the automobile maker and road construction contractor. On the vehicle manufacturer's company, a penalty of up to 100 crore rupees has been made for mischief in the construction of the car. On the other hand, there has been a provision of a fine of one lakh rupees on the negligence caused by the contractor in road construction. In the new law, it has also been said of the formation of a motor vehicle accident fund, which will provide compulsory insurance cover to every person using the road.

It is known that bad roads are responsible for many accidents in India. Regardless, there was no provision to impose a fine on the person who laid the road or the maintenance or maintenance of the road. The central government has added several new segments in the new law, which was not earlier in the Motor Vehicles Act. In order to reduce the accidents of the road, the driver and owner have been made provision for sending the prison. A similar provision has been made on the driving of a vehicle by a minor.
